By Victoria Robertson on September 25, 2016

It’s time to say goodbye to the flip-flops and sunglasses and trade in that summer sunbathing time for your fall cuddle time. That’s right, fall TV is back! And this year, it might just be better than ever.

So as you say goodbye to the warm weather and hello to another semester at school with free time you don’t even know what to do with, I’m here to help!

Below are the eight fall TV shows that college students have to start watching this month!

1. “New Girl”

For those unfamiliar with the quirky, one of a kind comedy, where have you been? Starring Zooey Deschanel, Max Greenfield and Jake Johnson, “New Girl” follows a group of adult roommates as they navigate relationships and jobs in very different ways.

For people that are looking for a light-hearted, carefree half-hour of laughter, this is the perfect show to add to your DVR. And if you need to catch up, the past seasons are available on Netflix!

“New Girl” airs on FOX Tuesdays at 8:30/7:30 central.

2. “Scream Queens”

From creator Ryan Murphy, “Scream Queens” is a feminist work of art. Kind of. It has the ability to poke fun at itself, replicate and reimagine the intricacies of the slasher genre, and add a comedic component that won’t be everyone’s taste, but that’s inventive and absolutely unique.

The second season of the hit show will follow some of the main characters from last season in a hospital setting. How exactly do you transition from a college murder rampage to a hospital? You’ll have to watch to find out!

“Scream Queens” airs on FOX Tuesdays at 9/8 central.

3. “Survivor” – CBS

Airing its 33rd season this fall, “Survivor” enticed us with a new competition in which millennials face off against generation X. Did we ask for this? No. Do we want it anyway? Absolutely!

The competition series will undoubtedly hold its signature twists and turns and the reality television drama is much needed in such a stressful college environment. It’s mindless television at its best and at the very least will make you appreciate that college dorm.

“Survivor” airs on CBS on Wednesdays at 8/7 central.

4. “This is Us”

A new show to the NBC lineup, “This is Us” is that tear-jerking drama that we’ve been waiting for. I mean seriously, “Grey’s Anatomy” can’t monopolize that department forever, right?

The show stars Mandy Moore and Milo Ventimiglia, amongst others, in a telling of the intricacies of life. While seemingly following several different stories, you’ll realize very early on that they all come together as one.

“This is Us” airs on Tuesdays at 10/9 central on NBC.

5. “Dancing with the Stars”

Need motivation to go to the gym? Just watch a single episode of “Dancing with the Stars.” The competition reality show kills two hours of your night and all of your self-esteem, but it’s so worth it. Judging people you don’t know from the comfort of your couch?! Living the dream.

This season, the show’s 23rd, includes celebrities such as Amber Rose, Vanilla Ice, Ryan Lochte and Jana Kramer.

“Dancing with the Stars” airs on ABC on Mondays at 8/7 central (and some Tuesdays as well, so don’t miss that!)

6. “The Blacklist”

This list needs an intense, action-based show, right? Well look no further! “The Blacklist” is full of high-stakes crime and this season is sure to be one of the most intense to date. (For those that aren’t caught up, you can do so on Netflix!)

Reddington and Liz are on the outs, and Tom Keene just went missing, along with the baby. In this season, some family secrets are going to be revealed, and fans of the show are not going to want to miss it!

Plus, Tom’s getting his own spin-off show?! Praise the TV gods! While you can’t watch it this fall, you’ll want to get caught up on “The Blacklist” this season in preparation!

“The Blacklist” airs on NBC on Thursdays at 10/9 central and “The Blacklist Redemption,” a spinoff starring Tom Keene, premieres in 2017.

7. “Stranger Things”

If you haven’t binged on “Stranger Things” yet, you’re missing out. The kid-run show is eerie, intelligent and similar to “The Whispers” (a cancelled NBC show), but executed in a much smarter way.

Starring Wynona Ryder and an amazingly talented young cast, “Stranger Things” is a far-fetched, government conspiracy show that has already been confirmed for a second season. So watch those eight episodes now, because next year, there’ll be plenty more to binge on!

“Stranger Things” season 1 is available for streaming on Netflix now!

8. “Quantico”

Beginning its second season this fall, “Quantico” is perhaps one of the most underrated television shows currently on air. It’s clever, it’s unique, and it isn’t just another crime show. In an age where terrorism and bomb threats are all over, the show hits a little too close to home, yet manages to entertain us to no end.

Starring the gorgeous Priyanka Chopra, “Quantico” will pick up its second season following the turmoil from the season 1 finale. And season 2 is sure to bring along with it a new threat that you won’t want to miss.

“Quantico” premieres on NBC on September 25 at 10/9 central.

So if that doesn’t keep you busy this fall, I don’t know what will! These shows are all perfect for your college schedule, and your TiVo will be full all through the winter!
